Resources On the Web
Center for Pediatric Emergency Medicine (not a U.S. government website)
Teaching Resource for Instructors in Prehospital Pediatrics for Paramedics (not a U.S. government website). A natural and logical sequel to the national award-winning Teaching Resource for Instructors in Prehospital Pediatrics (TRIPP), the paramedic version expands the scope of prehospital practice from basic to advanced life support procedures for children. Neither a course nor a curriculum, the Paramedic TRIPP is an encyclopedic resource that empowers instructors of ambulance personnel to provide comprehensive training in the assessment and treatment of critically ill and injured children.
Child Abuse and Neglect: A Prehospital Continuing Education and Teaching Resource (not a U.S. government website). Three million cases of child abuse are reported in the US annually, making this a significant public health care concern. EMS providers can be the eyes and ears of the health care community in initially identifying cases of suspected child maltreatment. Based on a national survey of what EMS providers need to know about child abuse and neglect, this resource can assist instructors of ambulance personnel in providing students with the information they need to sensitively and confidently attend to the needs of this vulnerable population.

Dr. Lou Romig thinks that kids must be the most powerful people in the world. Who else could make their mother get up in the middle of the night to get them a glass of water? Who else could cause otherwise well-trained, competent, and confident emergency care providers to virtually shake in their boots and doubt their own skills and training? Dr. Romig has dedicated her life’s work to caring not only for her small patients, but also for the emergency responders who play such a vital role in that care.
